Álex Márquez arrives at the Catalunya GP in 11th position in the MotoGP world championship. The Spanish Gresini Racing MotoGP rider finished in 10th position at the Le Mans GP, a little below expectations so far.
In a debrief ahead of the Barcelona GP, Álex spoke about his expectations for this weekend at the Montmeló circuit.
– I really like this circuit, in MotoGP I’ve never had the best weekend here. We need to get to grips with the track, the base of the bike changes a lot here, so we’ll see how it goes. It’s a flowing track with few strong braking points and I’m usually stronger at that. Aprilia are very good here because they have a bike that turns very quickly and is always on the right trajectory, which is why they’re so fast.
Asked about his future and that of the Ducati riders, Álex replied: ‘No, it’s true that everything is waiting for Ducati’s decision. Now we just have to wait, I’ve spoken to Nadia and I’m quite calm. My preference is to continue with Gresini Racing MotoGP. If it was my decision, I would always choose my brother for the factory team, but either way, Martin or my brother will always be a good decision. The rider they will lose will inevitably be a problem for them (Ducati). The atmosphere in the team is more relaxed, but in the end the goal is to be champion in a factory team. But right now he (Marc) is relaxed because he’s fast and he’s very good. Right now he’s very comfortable and as long as he’s fast he’s happy, because if he’s not, we already know what’s going to happen.
