Francesco Bagnaia was one of three riders to crash while leading the Sprint race at the MotoGP Catalunya Grand Prix. At the time, he was more competitive than his rivals and was feeling good on his bike.
The Ducati rider was asked if the main race would be more challenging than the Sprint. In response, he mentioned that he wasn’t feeling significant difficulties yesterday and that there are still some question marks about Sunday’s race:
– It’s difficult to know, because I was feeling great with my tyres. Without pushing, I was controlling everything. Let’s see the choice we will have to do for the race, but the medium tyres are always a bit better for me. It will be important to analyze everything. I saw the forecast saying that is saying that will be hotter. So it can be more difficult for the front end.
Three riders crashed while leading the Sprint race. Is it preferable not to lead? Bagnaia answered: ‘When you are behind is always a problem, because I was behind a KTM at the start, and when you are behind them, everything becomes more difficult to stop the bike. I don’t know why, maybe it’s for the aero. But I prefer always to be leading’.
