On his birthday, Pedro Acosta returned to good form with a third-place finish in the Sprint race of the Catalonia MotoGP. Despite gaining a position on the last lap due to Francesco Bagnaia’s (Ducati) crash, he has shown competitive performance in Barcelona so far.
The Spanish rider from Red Bull GasGas Tech3 was asked if he feels he has the bike to win Sunday’s race. He replied: ‘I hope so. I mean, the team is going to work, but we don’t really know’.
Acosta then highlighted KTM’s progress in Barcelona compared to the 2023 season, noting that he wasn’t far off the winner of the Sprint race:
– The good thing is that we are coming closer. In a track where last year the bike suffered a lot, we are in P3. Let’s say, taking out Pecco’s crash in the last lap, that I know somebody will ask about that, we would be fourth… I don’t know, maybe 1.2s from the winner, it’s not so far.
