Recent rumors have sparked discussions about the future of KTM riders, particularly Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM) and Augusto Fernández (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM), in light of potential contracts with Jorge Martín or Marc Márquez. KTM Motorsports Director Pit Beirer addressed these speculations.
When confronted with the possible scenario of signing Martín or Márquez, Beirer replied to the championship’s official broadcast: ‘I cannot really tell you, because the way we see the project is that we have four MotoGP places and at this stage we cannot say who is on each position, on each side. We just look generally to the four places and trying to make the best out of it’.
Beirer expressed his disappointment about a previous interview being misrepresented regarding the potential hiring of Martín or Márquez: ‘I’m also a little bit sad, because an interview from me got completely misused and mistranslated, because I got asked if we will hire Marc Márquez or Jorge Martín, and I tried to put myself out of this discussion. And I didn’t want to look like this important guy who could have a guy like Marc or Jorge Martín. I think we cannot’.
At present, the German emphasized KTM is focused on their current riders: ‘So it was my moment to protect our own riders, and I tell you: it’s our biggest motivation at the moment to get all the four riders on their performance levels and we want to get Brad where he wants to be. But also Jack and Augusto. So our motivation at this stage of the year is to get our four boys on the maximum levels and not look at the other riders and put pressure on the riders we have. That was not really correct how I was translated and then copied one hundred times around the globe. And it was not fair to confront the riders with this during the last days. But I had a good talk with both of them and it’s all clean between us’.
