Alex Márquez finished the Catalan GP in 7th place overall. The Spanish rider is now 11th in the MotoGP world championship when he arrives at the Italian circuit of Mugello.
In a debrief, the Gresini Racing MotoGP rider spoke about the events of the race and his weekend at “home”.
– Well, more or less saved, with a seventh place and a good feeling. During the weekend, I had a good feeling, I only missed Friday because of the incident and I missed Q2. I think we had good speed to be on the second row, which would have completely changed the race, as happened in Jerez and as we all know. But well, I think I did my best in the race, I suffered a bit at the start, maybe I was too cautious because of the “soft” rear tire and I lost some time. Then, with a few fights, both with Enea and Binder, which took me a while to get past and I lost a second which dropped me out of the top five, but as far as I can see, as I’ve done all weekend, positive.
He added on what he has to improve in the coming races: ‘Well, I think it’s true that at Le Mans we failed a bit, but I think we found a very good base and I think now we have to look for that stability of not changing the bike too much, always trying to give the maximum and, especially on Fridays, try to see something more, right? That’s the goal for Mugello and, from there, we’ll try to do our best.
