Following his return to the top ten with a tenth-place finish at the MotoGP Catalan GP, Miguel Oliveira is gearing up for the Italian GP. This is one of Aprilia’s home rounds, the constructor he represents while racing for the satellite team Trackhouse Racing.
Currently 13th in the championship, Oliveira is undoubtedly looking to improve on his performance in Barcelona, despite admitting that the overall result was disappointing.
Nevertheless, Oliveira is not anticipating an easy ride. In a statement, he highlighted the difficulties posed by Mugello, given the circuit’s features and the characteristics of the current bikes:
– Mugello is one of the most special events of the year in the amazing scenery of Tuscany. The track layout is quite challenging as we have many changes of direction and that makes it really hard with these heavy bikes and all the speed we do on the main straight, which makes it quite difficult to stop for the first corner. But it’s a fantastic track. I have great memories there with my first Moto3 victory. It’s just a very special place.
In the past, Oliveira’s best result at Mugello in MotoGP was a second-place finish in 2021 while riding for Red Bull KTM. In the lower categories, he has two victories: in 2015 (Moto3) and in 2018 (Moto2).
