Álex Márquez was the affected rider in the incident involving Francesco Bagnaia during MotoGP practice for the Italian GP, which resulted in a grid penalty for the Ducati rider. According to Márquez, there was clear irresponsible riding on the part of his rival.
The Spanish rider commented: ‘I was coming in a hot lap, improving my lap time, and I was seeing Pecco in front from the Sector 2 being really slow in the middle of the track. I was expecting him to watch behind, to see me, but he never does it’.
Regarding the corner where the incident occurred, Márquez has no doubts that Bagnaia acted incorrectly by being slow on the ideal racing line, thus impeding his fast lap:
– Going into the Correntaio he was completely in the middle of the racing line. I was able to avoid him, but I needed to cut the throttle. So for me it’s quite clear what happened.
