Jorge Martín was third at the MotoGP Italian GP. The Prima Pramac rider had been in second behind Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) for almost the entire race at Mugello, but on the final lap, he was surprised and overtaken by Enea Bastianini (Ducati).
In an interview with the official broadcast, the Spaniard didn’t hide his frustration with the outcome, despite putting in a strong performance and believing that victory was possible:
– For sure I’m a bit frustrated with the last lap. We did a big step, I was keeping Pecco on this amazing pace and doing a lap record every lap. At the end I thought I could make that move to the victory, I was closing the gap. And then I saw I was too much on the limit, so I just waited for the last lap.
Despite the frustration with the error that cost him second place, Martín emphasized the importance of the podium: ‘I am frustrated with myself because I didn’t close that last line, and then Enea overtook me. But a podium after such a difficult weekend is crucial, and now is time to rest and we will comeback stronger in Assen’.
