Miguel Oliveira finished no higher than 14th place in the MotoGP Italian GP. Just a few laps from the end, he even attempted to overtake his Trackhouse Racing teammate, Raúl Fernández, who held 12th place, but encountered a setback that caused him to lose position to Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46/Ducati).
The Portuguese told the press: ‘It was a long race. I was getting a good pace at the end, very constant. With four laps to go I got close to Raúl. When I went to overtake him, I got stuck in fifth gear. I don’t know whether is a gearbox problem or just something related probably with the shifter because then it didn’t happen anymore’.
The struggles of the two previous days also affected Oliveira in the race, as he said: ‘The rest, more or less the same problems as all the weekend, not a lot of turning in the fast corners and spending so much time on the lean angle really disturbs a lot to do the lap time for me. I’m disappointed, the team tried to give me some solutions, but didn’t manage to do it. We had to suffer a bit today, so I’m looking forward to tomorrow, to try something’.
Despite Mugello being a ‘very physical’ track with ‘a lot of changes of direction’, «Falcão» didn’t had any problems with his arm. Regarding the test day, the rider doesn’t yet know what work he will be doing: ‘I’m not sure yet, I don’t know the plan yet, so, maybe later’.
