One of the big uncertainties in MotoGP for 2025 is the future of Pramac Racing. With several years under Ducati, they are at the end of their contract, and strong rumors suggest a switch to become a Yamaha satellite team – something Randy Mamola sees favorably. Allegedly, Yamaha offers more financially advantageous conditions.
After labeling Marc Márquez’s choice by Ducati as a historic marketing move, the former rider admitted to GPOne.com that he would like to see Pramac partnering with Yamaha: ‘The next thing I’d like to see would be Pramac’s move to Yamaha; it would be a more interesting story than staying with Ducati’.
With Ducati, Pramac has immediate success guarantees, while with Yamaha, they would have to accept the challenge of helping develop a bike that isn’t currently in a winning condition. Mamola believes this could be an intriguing path:
– It would become a team of heroes, approaching Yamaha’s perspective and helping them build the bike of the future. Between now and 2027, they’ll have over 50 races to develop the Yamaha further. How many years has Pramac been with Ducati? Imagine those teams working together. We need the Japanese to be competitive again.
