Fermin Aldeguer is one of the great promises of Spanish motorcycling and MotoGP. The Spanish rider has fallen short of expectations at the start of this season, after surprising everyone and everything last season. With his surprising performance in 2023, Fermin signed a two-season contract with Ducati, where he will move up to the premier class.
Speaking to the ‘La Fórmula del Éxito’ podcast, he talked about his intentions for this Moto2 season and his physical and mental work.
– The real dream is to be Champion; not only in Moto2, but also in MotoGP. And we’re getting closer and closer. The champion is the one with the most discipline. Of course, talent helps the most, but you have to work at it. In the end, you have to work. You have to be mentally stable and know how to think on the bike. There are many times when we get scared, for example when we see another rider crash. But we also have a lot of respect for going around the same corner again after a fall. Most of the time when we’re on the bike, we do things instinctively
He added about the support his family has always given him despite his financial difficulties: ‘When I was little, I didn’t realize it, it was like a hobby. But when I turned twelve or thirteen, the value of money counted for a lot; there was a moment when the team told me: ‘A sponsor has dropped out, we can’t keep racing. The only option is to win.
