After returning to competition this year, Andrea Iannone still has an open future. He is currently in the Superbike World Championship and has been delivering good performances, so a return to MotoGP is not out of the question.
For now, the rider has nothing defined and has not yet started thinking much about the future. In statements to MotoSprint, the Italian suggested that both WSBK and MotoGP are possibilities:
– MotoGP or SBK? The doors are not closed; those who need to know are aware of my priorities. After Misano, I will seriously think about my future. There are good things in both SBK and MotoGP. I have a priority, and we will see what happens.
Until the doping case that left him suspended for four years in 2019, Iannone was a rider for Aprilia in MotoGP, where he also rode for the factory teams of Ducati and Suzuki. If he returns in 2025, it would likely have to be with a satellite team considering the few spots available in factory teams – although there are still officially open spots at Aprilia, Honda, and Yamaha.
