Unexpected news in the Superbike World Championship. After the Misano round, Bonovo Action – the current partner team of BMW – will withdraw from the championship where they have been since 2020. Initially starting with Yamaha bikes, they later switched to BMW, becoming a strong partner of the Bavarian manufacturer.
The decision was explained in a statement by Bonovo owner Jürgen Röder: ‘I will be leaving for personal reasons from 2025 and Bonovo action is therefore withdrawing as a factory team from BMW. I would like to personally thank all the fans who have stuck with us so loyally, who have been happy with us but also suffered with us. Thank you very much, because without the enthusiasm of the spectators and fans such a commitment would not be possible’.
The German, who also thanked team manager Michael Galinski, BMW and Marc Bongers, as well as the sponsors, concluded: ‘I wish all the teams in the entire WorldSBK paddock all the best for the future, always an accident-free ride, that is the most important thing of all, and of course much success for everyone’.
Currently, Bonovo Action competes with Garrett Gerloff and the experienced Scott Redding, who have had modest results this year – both achieving their best finishes in eighth place. The riders will now have to look for other options if they want to continue in WSBK in 2025.
