Mia Rusthen is still in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Cesena following her severe crash in the first race of the Women’s Circuit World Championship (WorldWCR). Despite still being sedated, she may be transferred to her home country, Norway, in the coming days.
The family’s spokesperson and physician, Kåre Løvstakken, stated to NTB, as reported by ABC Nyheter: ‘She is still in the hospital’s intensive care unit, where she is kept asleep with medication. There have been no significant changes in the last 24 hours, and her condition remains stable’.
After her fall, Rusthen was unconscious and transported to the hospital by helicopter, where she was placed in a medically induced coma. Subsequently, doctors performed surgery to prevent increased pressure in her head.
This was one of the severe accidents that marked the inaugural round of the WorldWCR. The other involved Jessica Howden (Team Trasimeno), who returned to the paddock on Sunday after spending Saturday in the hospital.
