After Hubert Trunkenpolz spoke about Gigi Dall’Igna and how KTM never tried to hire the genious and bright mind behind Desmosedici’s successfull, now it was Pit Beirer who came to agree with his compatriot.
The Motorsport Director of KTM, speaking to GPOne, highlighted that the italian has everything set up to work in the best possible way in Italy and that it wouldn’t make sense to change that «just» to be with the austrian manufacturer: ‘I totally agree with Hubert. Gigi has his life in Italy, he has set up an amazing network, he has access to various universities, he has a great bunch of engineers on hand and all vendors and contractors he needs’.
Working with the Borgo Panigale factory is then best and more productive for Dall’Igna, and not as suitable for KTM: ‘He can definitly operate more effective at Ducati than he would in Austria. That is why hiring Gigi Dall’Igna is not a conceivable scenario for us’.
The italian website also recalled the path taken by KTM in the past years, that has hired some engineers from the italian and Crew Chiefs, with the names of Fabiano Sterlacchini, Christian Pupulin, Alberto Giribuola and more recently the new Team Manager of the factory team Francesco Guidotti, alongside other personnel.
