Dani Pedrosa spent his entire career racing Honda motorcycles, from the 125cc World Championship until he retired full-time at the end of 2018. In the premier class, he was always with Repsol Honda, although after his retirement, he became a test rider for KTM, occasionally making wildcard appearances with the Mattighofen manufacturer.
One opportunity the Spaniard never had was to ride the same bike as his long-time rival, Jorge Lorenzo, while in MotoGP. The closest this came to happening was in 2017, when Pedrosa was considered to replace Lorenzo at Yamaha after Lorenzo moved to Ducati.
On the podcast Dura la Vita, «The Little Samurai» was asked if he believes he would have been faster than Lorenzo had they been teammates at Yamaha. Pedrosa responded confidently:
– If we had both been at Yamaha at the same time, I don’t think I would have been slower than you. I don’t know if I could have always been faster than you because you demonstrated your speed countless times. But I think I could have been at least as fast as you, certainly.
