Liam Everts won the MXGP of Turkiye in Afyonkarahisar, for the MX2 Motocross World Championship. Although he didn’t win either of the two races, the Belgian rider displayed the most consistent performance.
In the first race, Simon Längenfelder (Red Bull GasGas) made the holeshot, but by the end of the first lap, Isak Gifting (VHR Racing Team/GasGas) was in the lead. The Swede led for a significant portion of the race until he was overtaken by Längenfelder on lap ten. From that point on, the German rider never lost the lead, finishing 3.146s ahead of Jago Geerts (Monster Energy Yamaha). Everts (Red Bull KTM) took third place, followed by Roan van de Mosdijk (Nestaan Husqvarna) and Gifting, who lost momentum in the final stages.
Van de Moosdijk had a better start in the second race and led in the early laps, but in the lap four he lost positions to Everts and Kevin Horgmo (F&H Kawasaki). Everts then established himself in the lead but couldn’t shake off the pressure from Horgmo. The Norwegian rider managed to overtake in the 13th lap, eventually winning by 2.636s ahead of Everts. Van de Moosdijk finished third, holding off Geerts, while Andrea Adamo (Red Bull KTM) crossed the line in fifth.
In the final standings of the MX2 MXGP of Turkiye, Everts was the winner with 42 points, followed by Horgmo and Geerts with 40 points each. Despite finishing sixth and trailing the winner by 15 points, Adamo keeps his championship lead.
