Aleix Espargaró did not participate in the warm-up for the Dutch GP in MotoGP and will not return to action this weekend in Assen, missing this afternoon’s main race.
The Aprilia veteran suffered a heavy crash on the last lap of yesterday’s Sprint race, marking his second major accident in Assen after one during practice the previous day.
Having sustained a fracture in a finger on his right hand, Espargaró opted to sit out the remainder of the Dutch GP, aiming to recover to be fit in time for the German GP next week.
Currently, the Spaniard is in eighth place in the championship, with fourth place in Catalonia as his best result so far. The Dutch GP will be his second event without scoring points, after the at the Spanish GP in Jerez. This is the first time since the 2018 German GP that Espargaró has missed a race.
