Enea Bastianini secured his second consecutive MotoGP podium this Sunday, finishing third in the Dutch GP at Assen – behind only the winner Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) and Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati).
Starting from 11th on the grid didn’t make things easy for Bastianini, but the Ducati rider responded well, gradually climbing the standings and overtaking Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46/Ducati) on the 22nd of 26 laps to secure his final position.
In a quick interview for the official broadcast, the Italian, who remains fourth in the championship, expressed his satisfaction with the result after a challenging start to the Assen round:
– It’s incredible. I tried to push from the start, but I suffered a bit with the rear tyre – especially on the right side. But lap by lap I improved and I was really close to the podium and I tried to do it. At the end it arrived and I’m very satisfied with the job of the team. Two days ago we weren’t so good for the Grand Prix, but at the end we are here on the podium and we can be happy.
