Raúl Fernández achieved one of his best results of the season at the MotoGP Dutch GP, finishing eighth. Despite being pleased and feeling capable of competing with Maverick Viñales (Aprilia), he is aware of the improvements needed.
The Trackhouse Racing rider acknowledged the significant gap to the leading Ducati bikes, emphasizing the need to focus on electronics from his side:
– I’m happy, but when I saw the race by Ducati, we lost more than 20 seconds; it’s quite difficult to see where we can improve our bike. We know we have margin to improve, we are working on the electronics, but I’m not 100% comfortable. We are working well, but is not enough, we need to keep working on the electronics side. Now it’s our worst point in Aprilia.
Although Fernández recognizes the necessity for improvement, he expressed confidence in his ability to compete with Viñales, who has been the benchmark rider at Aprilia: ‘Our bike is working well, we already saw Maverick was quite competitive, he fought for the podium until the end. I feel that now we are ready to fight with him, but we have to work on the electronic and to see how I can take the maximum potential of the bike’.
