Tag Heuer Porsche’s appeal against the decision to disqualify Antonio Felix da Costa from the Misano E-Prix has been rejected by the sport’s governing body. The Portuguese driver claimed victory in the first race of the double-header at the Italian circuit on April 13. However, six hours later, the stewards disqualified his Porsche #13 due to the discovery of an outdated acceleration damper spring, which goes against the Sporting and Technical Regulations. Porsche promptly decided to challenge the decision, but after over two months of consideration, the FIA upheld the original ruling. This setback hampers Porsche’s chances of winning the Teams’ Championship and effectively ends da Costa’s hopes of a late comeback for the Drivers’ title, despite his subsequent wins in Berlin and Shanghai. As a result, Porsche may now choose to use da Costa as support for his teammate Pascal Wehrlein, who currently sits in second place in the standings, behind Nick Cassidy of Jaguar TCS Racing.
