Visa Cash App RB is looking to strengthen its position in the midfield and widen the gap between them and the bottom four teams with their upcoming update at the Spanish Grand Prix.
The manufacturers are still focused on introducing significant improvements to gain an advantage over their competitors.
The recent performances of McLaren and Mercedes have highlighted the importance of updates, as both teams are now competing for the top starting positions and victories.
According to a report from Formu1a.uno, a midfield team is seeking to make significant advancements in Spain.
Visa Cash App RB is planning to bring their most crucial update of the season to the Spanish Grand Prix, which could potentially save a significant amount of time per lap if it meets their expectations of £890 million.
After rebranding during the winter, Red Bull’s sister team, V-CARB, has had a positive season so far.
Last year, AlphaTauri finished 8th in the Constructors’ Championship, but the new V-CARB team has surpassed Williams and Alpine this year.
Although Daniel Ricciardo’s return to Formula 1 hasn’t gone as planned, his performance in Canada showed promise.
Ricciardo’s teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, has been attracting attention in the paddock.
The Japanese driver is currently in the top ten in the Drivers’ Championship, ahead of Lance Stroll, and frequently reaches Q3 in qualifying. He was disappointed with his 8th place on the grid in Montreal, while Ricciardo started on the third row.
Visa Cash App RB hopes that their next update at the Spanish Grand Prix will solidify their position in the midfield and widen the gap between them and the bottom four teams.
If successful, Aston Martin may need to worry about its position in the championship.
The Formu1a.uno report provides details on RB’s expectations for the upgrade.
Their initial upgrade package in Miami resulted in Ricciardo finishing fourth in the Sprint Race, and Tsunoda scoring five points in both races.
However, reliable sources have indicated that the upgrade for the Spanish Grand Prix will be the most crucial of the season for RB.
If everything goes according to plan, the upgrades could provide a time advantage of up to 2.5 tenths on tracks like Barcelona and Silverstone.
If RB had achieved that time in Canada, Tsunoda would have qualified in sixth, and Ricciardo could have started from pole position.
Although this outcome seems unlikely, especially with other teams also making improvements, RB is in a good position this season and aims to reduce the gap to Aston Martin by the end of the upcoming three-race sequence.
