Pedro Acosta has the chance to break Marc Márquez’s record as the youngest ever winner of a MotoGP race this weekend. This is the last opportunity for the Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider to achieve this feat.
In an interview with the championship’s website, the rookie acknowledged that it won’t be easy to reach that milestone: ‘Well, let’s see how it’s going. It’s true we will try to find another way to approach the weekend, and it’s true is not going to be easy to beat him. Anyway, let’s see how the weekend will going to be and where we can arrive’.
That said, Acosta stressed that the focus is not on the record, but rather on doing a good job: ‘For sure is something nice to have this record, but we are not looking for that. At the end we need to really focus ourselves on doing a good job and be competitive again’.
Márquez won his first MotoGP race at 20 years and 63 days old at the 2013 Americas GP. Acosta will be 20 years and 43 days old on the Sunday of the German GP, and at the next round, he will already be 20 years and 69 days old.
