The new Peugeot 5008, the new reference in the 7-seater SUV segment, is available for order starting this Thursday, with a price starting at €39,150.
The third generation of the Peugeot 5008 takes little more from its predecessor than the name. Unlike before, the 5008 now offers multi-energy options, thanks to the STLA Medium platform, which is also used in the new 3008 and allows for various types of engines.
Therefore, the new 5008 is offered in a fully electrified range, which includes the 100% electric E-5008, the Plug-In Hybrid version with an electric range of 82 kilometers in combined WLTP cycle, as well as a hybrid version with the new 48V technology.
The Peugeot 7-seater SUV comes with a length of almost five meters, 4.79 meters, a width of 1.89 meters, a height of 1.69 meters, and a wheelbase of 2.89 meters.
With these dimensions, the new Peugeot 5008 offers generous legroom for passengers in the second row and even sets a new benchmark in terms of habitability in the third row, with unparalleled access thanks to the “Easy Access” system.
This system allows the second-row seats to be fully reclined and slid forward simultaneously, improving accessibility to the third row of seats.
The third row offers true seats with two independent backrests equipped with adjustable headrests. These seats offer authentic comfort: thickness and softness of the cushions, higher backrests, and optimized headroom for adults.
Regarding the trunk capacity, it offers a volume of 748 liters in a 5-seat configuration, which decreases to 259 liters in a 7-seat configuration and can reach 1815 liters with the folding of the second and third rows of seats.
Still on the interior, the highlight is the new generation of Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit with a curved 21″ panoramic screen that combines the functionalities of the digital instrument panel and the touchscreen. The compact steering wheel has been redesigned, and the gearshift lever has a new, more intuitive location on the dashboard.
As for the new Peugeot i-Connect Advanced infotainment system and the latest generation connected services, they allow access to features such as connected navigation with EV Routing, “Over The Air” updates, parking search, or remote access via the MyPeugeot app. The voice recognition “Ok Peugeot” also allows access to infotainment, climate control, and telephone functions, now distinguishing between commands made by the driver or the passenger.
Note also the ChatGPT artificial intelligence is also available to allow interaction between occupants and the vehicle.
Designed for families, the Peugeot 5008 has been a reference since the first generation as the benchmark among 7-seater SUVs in Portugal and the European market, and the new generation is now arriving on the market, with three engine options, in the launch phase.
The Peugeot E-5008, 100% electric, is equipped with an electric motor with 210 hp of power and 345 Nm of torque, which is powered by a 73 kWh battery and allows a WLTP range of up to 502 km in combined cycle. With 160 kW DC charging, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes at a public charging station.
The plug-in hybrid version combines a 1.6 PureTech gasoline engine with a power of 150 hp and a torque of 300 Nm at 2,000 rpm, with an electric motor with a power of 125 hp and a torque of 118 Nm, resulting in a combined power of 195 hp and a torque of 350 Nm.
The electric motor is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a gross capacity of 21 kWh (usable capacity of 17.8 kWh), and it allows for a 100% electric range of up to 82 km in combined WLTP cycle.
On the other hand, the Hybrid variant is equipped with a new generation 1.2 PureTech engine, with a power output of 136 hp and a torque of 230 Nm at 1750 rpm. It features a variable geometry turbocharger, chain distribution, and operates according to the Miller cycle for better thermal combustion efficiency.
In addition, it is equipped with an electric motor with a power output of 28 hp and a torque of 55 Nm, integrated into the gearbox, which allows for 100% electric driving in scenarios with low torque requirements and assists the combustion engine in limiting fuel consumption. During deceleration, the motor acts as a generator to recharge the 48 V battery of the hybrid system.
As for prices, Peugeot has announced that the new 5008 starts at €39,150 for the Hybrid version, while the plug-in hybrid variant starts at €47,150. The new E-5008, 100% electric, has a starting price of €49,150.
However, during the launch period, until July 31st, the new 5008 benefits from special conditions, and in this sense it is proposed from €48,150 in the 100% electric E-5008 version, while the plug-in hybrid variant starts at €46,150 and the 5008 Hybrid at €36,650. The first deliveries of the renewed seven-seater SUV from the Sochaux brand are scheduled for September.
