The Maserati decided to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the MC12, a model that made its mark on the tracks by becoming a reference in GT championships, with the launch of two special editions of the MC20 – the Icona and the Leggenda.
The new limited editions, limited to 20 units each, feature distinct paintings created by the Maserati Fuoriserie customization program.
The Maserati MC20 Icona stands out with an exterior paint in blue and white that reflects the colors of the original MC12 Stradale. The upper part of the body is painted in Icona Bianco Audace, contrasting with the Blu Stradale stripes on the lower part.
It is also worth noting the chrome wheels with a specific Trident design and the brake calipers with a blue finish. Maserati has also added an Italian flag on the door under the MC20 letters. In addition, it features a carbon fiber engine cover and auto-dimming mirrors.
As for the special edition MC20 Leggenda, it pays tribute to the MC12 GT1 racing model that served the Vitaphone Racing team, which achieved three wins and two second places in the 24 Hours of Spa, and stands out for its Nero Essenza and Digital Mint Matte color with yellow details.
For this special model from the Trident brand, two different shades of black (Nero Lucido and Nero Opaco) are combined with Digital Mint details, while the brake calipers feature a black finish.
The interior of these two special editions reflects the exterior colors, with the Icona featuring Nero/Blue finishes and the Leggend featuring dark Bero finishes. Note also the sports seats with the embroidered name of the special series on the headrest, as well as a Sonus Faber audio system.
Maserati has not revealed any changes to the engine that powers these two special editions, indicating that the Icona and Leggenda are equipped with the same engine used by the MC20, namely the 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V6 Nettuno engine, which produces 630 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds.
