Máximo Quiles is the new champion of the European Talent Cup, which concluded on Sunday in Valencia. The race was won by Guido Pini, but fourth place was enough for the Spanish rider to secure the title.
Jesús Rios (MRE Talent) started from pole position, but Quiles (Aspar Junior Team) took the lead and held it during the early laps before being overtaken by his rival on the fifth lap. Other riders also joined this battle, including Pini (AC Racing Team), who ultimately became the winner after several position swaps.
In a thrilling finish, Pini finished just 80 milliseconds ahead of Valentin Perrone (Franco Racing VHC Team) – who was also part of the battle. Rios finished fourth, 0.218s behind, while Quiles came in fourth, 0.276s adrift. In fifth place, Guillem Planques (First Bike Academy) trailed the winner by 5.677s.
Only Brian Uriarte (Team Estrella Galicia 0,0) could have prevented Quiles from becoming the champion, but he retired on the eighth lap while running in podium positions
