The qualifying session of the NTT IndyCar Series at Road America on Saturday provided an intense battle between the drivers and the track. The session started with wet conditions but gradually dried up.
Among the competitors, Linus Lundqvist showed exceptional skills in adapting to the changing track conditions. He secured the pole position for the first time in his promising IndyCar career, driving for Chip Ganassi Racing Honda team.
Colton Herta and Marcus Armstrong also demonstrated impressive speed throughout the weekend, securing the second and third fastest times, respectively.
Unfortunately, Josef Newgarden suffered a significant accident during his final lap. His mistake of touching the wet curb at The Kink resulted in a devastating collision with the wall. Fortunately, Newgarden walked away unharmed, but his car sustained severe damage.
Looking ahead to Sunday, the forecast predicts completely dry conditions. This means the drivers will have optimal grip as they battle through 55 laps.
