A positive start for Marcos Ramírez in the Moto2 German GP. The Spanish rider not only led this morning’s session but also set a new category lap record at the Sachsenring circuit.
After the initial laps, Manuel González (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) was leading the session but was soon beaten. There were seven changes in leadership until Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex) took the top spot seven minutes in.
The Thai rider held the position for nearly half an hour, improving his time once during that period. However, in the final five minutes, Chantra dropped two places. Ramírez (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) emerged as the fastest, setting a new lap record of 1m23.347s.
Fermín Aldeguer (MB Conveyors SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) came closest to the leader, just 59 thousandths behind, followed by Chantra at 0.076s. Dennis Foggia (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex) was fourth, and championship leader Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) completed the top five, 0.251s off the leader.
