Marc Márquez didn’t have an easy Saturday in Sepang. In the qualifying session, he missed the opportunity to set a good lap time by falling in the final phase, relegating him to the 20th position. In the Sprint race, he experienced another crash while occupying rear positions.
The Repsol Honda rider believes that his riding style doesn’t have issues, despite the crashes, and considers that the qualifying session compromised the rest of the round: ‘I’m riding in a good way this weekend. In fact in Buriram I didn’t crash, yesterday I didn’t crash. And today, in the qualifying it was my last lap, I overtook Augusto [Fernández] and I crashed. And then in the race. We can say that in the qualifying practice I destroyed my weekend, and I paind in the Sprint race and I will pay tomorrow. So, let’s wait to Qatar’.
Asked if the mistake was entering into a «waiting game» with Franco Morbidelli (Monster Energy Yamaha), Márquez admitted that it wasn’t a moment that helped: ‘We go in that of game, But this happens when we are two riders that right now are in a difficult moment and we aren’t convinced about ourselves. So, then he was not pushing, I was not pushing, he was not pushing, I was not pushing. And it was a shame because I had a good rhythm on FP2. We were not pushing and then when I decided to push he followed me, but unfortunately I caught Augusto too early because, he closed the gas into turn two. That was normal, he [Morbidelli] played his game and I accept it. But trying to overtake him I crashed. Also starting from 15th place we lost our weekend, we f*** our weekend in the qualifying’.
