Jonathan Rea, who joined Yamaha for the World Superbike Championship this year after many seasons with Kawasaki, had his first chance to participate in the Yamaha Racing Experience this week in Jerez.
The event took place at the Circuito de Jerez Ángel Nieto and was aimed at owners of the R1M, allowing them to share the track with some of their idols, such as the British rider or even Valentino Rossi, among many others.
In addition to autographs, photos, and on-track moments where participants could learn something to enhance their riding skills, some attendees also had access to an exclusive dinner.
During his first Yamaha Racing Experience, Rea also had the opportunity to ride the Yamaha YZR500 0WL9 – the last 500cc bike from the manufacturer in the World Championship, dating back to 2001.
In a press release, the six-time Superbike World Champion shared his impressions: ‘I have never been to an event like this in my whole life. The whole event, from start to finish, offers awesome opportunities for everyone here. Even for me as a racer, being on track with Valentino was an incredible experience! The R1M owners have been fantastic, and I hope they all had as much of a good time as I did!’.
