Charles Leclerc from Ferrari was the fastest driver in the second free practice session of the Formula 1 for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Leclerc’s impressive performance in FP2 at Imola confirmed that Ferrari’s upgrades are working as expected. Oscar Piastri from McLaren also had a good performance, finishing second in the session. Yuki Tsunoda from Red Bull surprised everyone by securing third place. Mercedes had a better session compared to their recent struggles, with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz came in sixth, just behind his teammate Leclerc. Red Bull continued to struggle, with Max Verstappen finishing seventh and Sergio Perez in eighth. Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg impressed with the ninth fastest time, while Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso completed the top-10. McLaren’s Lando Norris, winner of the previous race in Miami, had a setback during the session, but McLaren still showed good pace. The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix will continue with FP3 on Saturday.
