Oliver Bearman and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, both drivers for Prema in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, are highly regarded as future talents in Formula 1. The more experienced Bearman, who serves as a reserve driver for Ferrari and Haas, recently had the opportunity to participate in his first FP1 session with Haas in Imola. Earlier this year, he also made a surprise debut in a Grand Prix with Ferrari. On the other hand, Antonelli, a junior driver for Mercedes, has just made the jump to F2 but is already being considered for a possible seat at Williams or as a replacement for Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. Mercedes even tested him in their 2021 and ’22 cars. Bearman is pleased to share his experiences in F1 and F2 with Antonelli, discussing what they have learned and the differences they have noticed between the cars. Prema had a challenging start in Bahrain, but their performance improved in Jeddah and Melbourne, with Antonelli finishing fourth in the Australian Feature Race. Bearman speaks highly of his relationship with Antonelli, emphasizing their shared goal of making Prema as competitive as possible in F2. While Antonelli has consistently scored points in recent races, Bearman’s campaign has been more inconsistent, with several obstacles hindering his progress. However, he remains optimistic and aims to bring more consistency to his performance in the upcoming races.
