Two individuals will start their work in Maranello on October 1st. Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time F1 world champion, will join Mercedes at the end of the season. Belgian D’Ambrosio, who participated in 20 races with Marussia and Lotus between 2011 and 2012 but failed to score points, will support team principal Fred Vasseur and take on the role of head of the Ferrari Driver Academy. D’Ambrosio previously served as team principal of Venturi Formula E and was responsible for driver development at Mercedes, occasionally standing in for team principal Toto Wolff. Frenchman Serra, whose transfer has been public knowledge within the F1 community since July last year, will be under the supervision of technical director Enrico Cardile. His responsibilities will include aerodynamic development and vehicle performance. Serra has been with Mercedes since 2010, during which time the team won eight consecutive constructors’ championships from 2014 to 2021. The information was reported by Alan Baldwin.
