Daniel Ricciardo, the winner of eight Grand Prix races, went through a series of ups and downs throughout the Miami Grand Prix weekend. Despite an impressive fourth place in the Sprint race, Ricciardo’s qualifying session ended in disappointment as he was eliminated after Q1. His final lap in Q1 resulted in a time of 1.28.617, placing him in 18th position.
In contrast, Ricciardo’s teammate managed to advance to Q3 with his VCARB 01. Throughout the 2024 season, the 34-year-old driver has consistently been outperformed by his teammate. However, during the current weekend, Ricciardo has shown equal performance and has even surpassed the Japanese driver on some occasions.
While Ricciardo claims he did not make significant mistakes during the Miami GP qualifying session, Yuki Tsunoda acknowledges that he could have done better even though he made it to Q3. Tsunoda’s final lap was not clean, resulting in a starting position in 10th place.
The Miami weekend has proven to be challenging for the 20 drivers due to the dusty nature of the street circuit. This may pose additional difficulties during the 57-lap race. Tsunoda has a good opportunity to score points, but Ricciardo’s starting position may make it challenging for him to break into the top 10.
