Sergio Perez expressed his optimism in securing a new contract with Red Bull for the upcoming season, despite the competitive driver market.
Sergio Perez joined the Red Bull team in 2021 as a partner. Despite a performance drop in the last season, the Mexican driver has proven to be an excellent second driver for Milton Keynes. However, Perez’s future beyond this season remains uncertain, as his current contract expires at the end of the year. Nevertheless, Checo confidently stated that he will continue competing in Formula 1 next year.
Perez confirmed his unwavering commitment to the future of the sport, emphasizing his decade-long involvement in Formula 1. At 34 years old, he is still relatively young compared to other drivers who continue to achieve notable results even in their 40s. Consequently, Checo stated that he feels rejuvenated and motivated for what lies ahead.
Sergio Perez explicitly made it clear that he will definitely be on the track in 2025. Red Bull has received interest from at least 16 drivers for the 2025 season, with Sainz being one of the potential candidates. However, it was mentioned that Milton Keynes may struggle to match Audi’s tempting offer for Sainz.
There were previous rumors suggesting that Red Bull rejected Sergio Perez’s initial demands for a multi-year contract extension. However, Helmut Marko recently stated that the Mexican driver needs to present reasonable conditions for a new agreement. However, the Austrian team has not yet made a final decision on Perez’s position.
Perez stated that when the team and the driver share the same goals, the situation becomes much easier, especially considering their long-standing partnership of four seasons. Therefore, Checo insisted that his future with Milton Keynes would be favorable going forward. However, the 34-year-old driver will need to deliver positive results consistently to secure an extension.
Undoubtedly, Sergio Perez showed improvement in his performance in 2024 compared to the previous year. The Mexican driver worked to enhance his consistency, which was a significant concern for Red Bull in the past. As a result, Checo may be in a strong position to secure a contract extension for the 2025 season. However, it is evident that Milton Keynes will take their time to carefully evaluate all available options before making a decision to renew with the 34-year-old driver.
