During the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix, Lance Stroll had a tumultuous race in the VCARB F1 car. Starting from 12th position, he experienced a rollercoaster that ultimately resulted in a DNF. On lap 26, before the safety car restart, Stroll collided with the rear of Daniel Ricciardo’s VCARB 01, abruptly ending Ricciardo’s race. The incident did not sit well with the VCARB team boss.
According to recent statements, if Stroll had not hit Ricciardo, the latter could have finished in the top 10, as he was attacking another driver who was struggling with the W15. Unfortunately, Red Bull’s sister team left the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix without scoring points. Ricciardo’s teammate also retired from the race when the Haas car touched his rear tire, causing him to spin.
This race in Shanghai had a significant impact on the constructors’ standings for the Faenza-based team. The Haas driver managed to score a point, leaving them just 2 points behind RB. Despite this setback, the VCARB boss is encouraging his team to focus on the positives.
So far, the VCARB 01 has been performing better than its competitors from the Haas, Williams, Sauber, and Alpine F1 teams. However, the unpredictable nature of the sport means that the upcoming races could change the current ranking of the bottom five teams. Haas has been steadily improving and, on a good day, Williams has the potential to achieve impressive results.
