Pierre Gasly received permission to leave the pit box before the right rear tire had been properly installed due to an error made by a team member who accidentally pressed a button to release the car.
The French Formula 1 driver was stopped before exiting the pit box, resulting in a mechanic stumbling backwards amidst the chaos, but managing to continue working for the rest of the race.
The race stewards determined that Gasly was not at fault and held the team entirely responsible for the mistake.
Alpine, currently positioned second to last in the constructors’ championship, has yet to score a single point in five races. Gasly finished 13th on Sunday, while his teammate Esteban Ocon, driving an upgraded car, finished 11th.
Team principal Bruno Famin expressed relief that no one was injured and stated that they will investigate the causes behind this incident to prevent similar occurrences in the future. (Reported by Alan Baldwin)
