Kyle Busch emerged victorious in the race held in Talladega during the previous regular season.
The two-time NASCAR champion had a successful debut with RCR in 2023, winning three races in the first 14 stages and establishing himself as one of the main contenders for the championship. However, the team’s performance worsened in the second half of the season, resulting in an early exit from the playoffs.
For the 2024 season, the team was hopeful for a recovery. Unfortunately, their poor performance continued until the recent race in Texas, where both Kyle Busch and his teammate achieved positions in the top ten. The team sees this as a positive momentum boost towards the next race at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday.
During a pre-race discussion, Kyle Busch expressed his belief that, like many other teams, RCR has a good chance of winning the race on Sunday. He also highlighted RCR’s advantage in terms of speed in Superspeedways, which gives him a better and easier opportunity for success.
Although both RCR drivers would not qualify for the top 16 if the 2024 Cup playoffs started now, Busch is not worried about the team’s current position. He acknowledged that the team is not where it should be, but remains optimistic about future events and is not concerned.
Busch, who previously won the regular season race in Talladega, seems to have the right mindset going into the weekend. He will start in fourth position after a good performance in qualifying, alongside his teammate Dillon in the same position. The duo has a great opportunity to work together and dominate the race from the start.
