Harley-Davidson announces that elite Dakar rider Joan Pedrero will compete in the 2024 Africa Eco Race on a Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250TM. From December 30 to January 14, 2024, Africa Eco Race participants will cross the challenging landscapes of two continents, covering a total of 6,000 km. Pedrero will compete in the Maxi-Trail category.
In keeping with the spirit of adventure that is part of the American brand’s DNA, Harley-Davidson has decided to once again accept the challenge of competing off-road with Joan Pedrero at the controls of the Pan America 1250™, the first Harley-Model Davidson Adventure Touring. Equipped with the powerful Revolution® Max 1250 engine, a liquid-cooled 1250 cc V-Twin designed to deliver ample power at high revs, the Pan America guarantees an adrenaline-filled experience with the highest level of technology.
Joan Pedrero has been collaborating with Harley-Davidson since the launch of the Pan America 1250 and, during this time, has pushed the Adventure Touring model to the limit on many occasions. Throughout 2023, the Dakar rider took part in many races and challenges across Europe with the Pan America 1250, including the Basella Race, where he successfully finished sixth in the maxi trail category. In April he competed in the demanding Baja TT Dehesa Extremadura, where he obtained excellent results and dominated the Maxi Trail category, and in July he completed the Baja Aragón España race, winning in the Maxi Trail category.
Harley-Davidson’s participation in the upcoming Africa Eco Race demonstrates not only the capability and reliability of the Pan America 1250, but also represents the iconic motorcycle brand taking on new challenges and pushing the limits of technology and performance. Adventure is part of the brand and the Pan America 1250 is exploring new ways to live the true Harley-Davidson experience.
Kolja Rebstock, Harley-Davidson Regional Vice President for Europe, Middle East and Africa, says: “Adventure and performance are at the heart of our brand and we can’t think of a better way to showcase Pan America’s versatility than by entering the Africa Eco Race. We’re excited to take on this next challenge with Joan Pedrero, after the great success we had throughout 2023.”
The 15th edition of the race will start in Monaco on December 30, 2023 and end in Dakar on January 14, 2024.
