Rahel Frey from Switzerland, Michelle Gatting from Denmark, and Sarah Bovy from Belgium, who make up the Iron Dames team, have announced their return to the FIA World Endurance Championship. They will compete in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the final four rounds of the 2024 season. This news comes after Dorianne Pin’s announcement of her participation in the Formula Regional European Championship for Alpine. The Iron Dames expressed their excitement for Frey’s return through a video on social media. They plan to race together in Spa-Francorchamps, Le Mans, São Paulo, Austin, Fuji, and Bahrain. They are determined to build on their successful season last year and are eager to get back on track. They also wished Pin the best in her new endeavors.
Last year, Rahel Frey, Sarah Bovy, and Michelle Gatting made history by becoming the first all-female team to win a race in the WEC. They achieved this feat at the 8 Hours of Bahrain, which was the season finale and marked the end of the GTE era. This year, they will compete in the LMGT3 category with their Lamborghini Huracan LMGT3 EVO2, facing off against 17 other competitors. The 6 Hours of Spa will kick off their racing season on May 11, followed by races in São Paulo on July 14, COTA on September 1, and Fuji on September 15. The 2024 WEC calendar will conclude with the 8 Hours of Bahrain on November 2.
