Geofencing services are becoming increasingly popular and DS Automobiles has decided to add the service to its models with plug-in hybrid engines, in order to allow the driver to optimize the use of different energies, reducing the environmental impact of a trip.
The Geofencing service is increasingly connected to the implementation of Low Emission Zones (LEZ) throughout Europe. These zones aim to limit the circulation of the most polluting vehicles through progressive restrictions.
To make the driver’s life easier, the Geofencing service automatically activates the electric mode in DS4, DS 7, and DS 9E-Tense plug-in hybrid models equipped with DS Iris System in low emission zones.
The driver receives a warning when approaching a LEZ and, upon entering the defined area, the electric mode is automatically selected if there is enough energy in the battery. At the same time, the LEZ is marked in green on the connected navigation system map, accompanied by an icon.
The DS also announced that 100% electric, gasoline, diesel, and hybrid models have available a Geofencing service, which alerts only drivers to Low Emission Zones, while also showing an alternative route to avoid these zones.
The Geofencing service is based on the update of the connected navigation included in the Connect Plus package, which also includes the ChatGPT function, integrated into the IRIS voice recognition.
