In the next year, the Formula 1 (F1) season will consist of 24 races, mirroring the current 2024 F1 season. In a change from recent years, the Albert Park circuit will once again host the first race of the F1 season in 2025. This will mark the first time since 2019 that the circuit will occupy this prestigious position. Additionally, the 2025 season will also feature 24 Grand Prix events, just like the current year.
The schedule has been adjusted to accommodate Ramadan. The Bahrain Grand Prix, traditionally the season opener, will now take place as the fourth race on April 13. However, Bahrain will still host the pre-season tests as usual.
To ensure that the 24-race schedule is viable, there will be no additional events, and the season will start on March 14. In 2024, F1 experimented with holding the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia GPs on a Saturday. However, for the 2025 season, only the Las Vegas GP on November 22 will take place on a Saturday, according to racingnews365.
As part of a 10-year contract extension with the promoters of the Australian GP, F1 has chosen to honor this agreement by making it the opening race of next year’s season. The 2025 calendar will also include six sprint races, similar to the current year, but the specific locations will be revealed later.
In 2025, F1 will celebrate its 75th anniversary. In light of this historic milestone, the F1 management has made certain changes to the calendar to prioritize sustainability and environmental protection.
The FIA president expressed the following sentiments regarding these developments. Recognizing the immense effort put in by the behind-the-scenes team of each team, the F1 calendar now emphasizes the importance of breaks between race weekends to prevent exhaustion and health issues among the traveling team.
