Francesco Bagnaia and Fabio Di Giannantonio had a fierce battle at the last Sprint race at Valencia, with the factory rider to get the best out of his opponent. Bagnaia addressed the battle with the #49 before highlighting how important it will be to start the race well.
The italian from Gresini said he was losing time at the corner exit, contrary to what happened to Pecco who was having issues with the entry, leaving the #1 to comment this battle like this: ‘We were fighting for fifth place, it doesn’t change anything to be further ahead for him, for me it could be a problem. Right now we are 14 points [ahead], it’s a very short distance, but we are still ahead. This of course puts us in a better position’.
Bagnaia considers then the start of the race to be super important: ‘I tried today. It wasn’t enough, because in turn 2 I was overtaken by Maverick and on the second lap I was fifth by one second. It is very important to make the same start as today, the best start with the Ducati was today, fantastic. Then try to push more on the first lap, because I was suffering. When I went out I lost the tyre and Maverick overtook me. For tomorrow it will be very important to improve our first two corners and push like I know how to push’.
Tomorrow it is the last race of the championship, were Bagnaia can renew his world title.
