VW has revealed that the new generation of the Transporter will be launched in the market in early 2025, with more space and new features.
As standard, the new Transporter Cargo van is equipped with three seats in the front (individual driver’s seat and double seat for two passengers). In addition, the Transporter Cargo can be equipped with up to three easily removable individual seats in the second row of seats and – later, as a passenger vehicle – also with a bench seat for three passengers in the third row of seats.
The new VW Transporter will be the only commercial vehicle in its class to also be available with a double cab. In this case, there are six seats on board: the driver’s seat plus a double seat for two in the first row of seats and a triple seat in the second row of seats. Robust fabric coverings are available, as well as two leather variants.
The new standard variant with normal wheelbase has a cargo compartment of 2602 mm, which is 61 mm more. In the variant with a longer wheelbase, the available length reaches 3002 mm. In terms of volume, the cargo capacity ranges from 5.8 m3 to 9 m3, depending on the wheelbase, and the compartment can be individualized according to professional needs. The maximum payload is up to 1.33 tons. And as if that were not enough, the new generation of the Transporter can tow trailers weighing up to 2.8 tons.
The interior follows the latest commercial models from the brand, with VW maintaining some elements that we already knew from the previous generation of the Transporter, such as the elevated position of the driver’s seat, as well as the position
and the high position of the gear selector lever, elevated from the gearbox control. In front of the driver, the new digital display is easily visible within the line of sight. This is composed of the 12” configurable cluster (Digital Cockpit with 30 cm diagonal) and the 13” touch screen (33 cm diagonal) for the standard infotainment system, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Another standard feature is the new multifunction steering wheel with easy-to-use buttons, even with gloves. Like in the Multivan and the ID. Buzz, the new Transporter now also has an electric parking brake with Auto-Hold function. The operation of the parking brake has been moved to the instrument panel, freeing up more space in the footwell for potential access to the rear through the cabin – depending on the equipment.
Furthermore, the infotainment system can be optionally enhanced with a navigation system, VW Connect online mobile services, and VW Connect Plus (standard with the navigation system) and a Harman Kardon sound system.
