The CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team has been in the spotlight in recent days, but not for the best reasons. There’s been a lot of speculation about the team’s future in MotoGP, with international press discussing debts and even a potential sale to new investors. These scenarios have been denied once again by the top officials at RNF.
Ovidiu Toma, the CEO of CryptoDATA, said to SportTV: ‘Our contract is up to 2026 and it’s valid. We are still committed to be here up to 2026. We decline any rumors, any news, that we’ve sold the team. So we haven’t sold the team. From our side everything goes according to the plan. All the contracts are valid, all contracts are ongoing, so next season is waiting for us’.
Asked whether Dorna has made a proposal to buy RNF’s places on the grid, Bogdan Maruntis, of CryptoDATA, replied: ‘We cannot disclose the prize, but we rejected the prize – it’s under our investment and we declined the offer two weeks ago. We never met with somebody, the only discussion we had was with Dorna in their office, we never met anybody’.
Regarding the relationship with Aprilia, the Romanian clarified: ‘With Aprilia we have a business relationship, we have a contract. They never notified us about the contract, that we have to cancel or we will terminate the contract. So at this moment we have valid contract with IRTA and also with Aprilia. So far nobody notified us about the termination of the contracts’.
Maruntis also assured that Aprilia will work closely with RNF in 2024 ‘Yeah. They worked close with us also this season. After the summer break they gave us more engineers to have better performances. We were in touch all the time to achieve the best performance. So we are working also for the next season’.
