Closely following the world champion was his teammate Sergio Perez, securing the second position. Meanwhile, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, both driving for Mercedes, respectively claimed third and fourth places.
Fernando Alonso, with his updated AMR23, managed to secure the fifth position. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri occupied the sixth and eighth positions, with Carlos Sainz from Ferrari rounding out the McLaren pair.
Yuki Tsunoda, competing in his home country, impressed by securing the ninth position. Charles Leclerc completed the top ten positions in the race.
