Lewis Hamilton suffered a setback during the Australian Grand Prix, when the engine of his W15 had an issue on lap 17, forcing him to retire from the race. Unfortunately, it was revealed that the engine cannot be used again for the rest of the season. This is a major blow for the seven-time world champion, especially considering that there are still 21 Grand Prix events left on the calendar. Hamilton now has only two engines for the rest of the year.
Despite the disappointing news about his engine, Hamilton remains optimistic about the ongoing campaign. Currently ranked 10th in the 2024 driver standings, he believes that Mercedes can make improvements to their underperforming W15 in the upcoming races. In a recent interview, he expressed confidence in his team’s ability to enhance the car’s performance.
However, Mercedes currently has the fourth fastest car on the grid this year. McLaren has managed to surpass them in terms of speed. However, with a significant number of races still to come, Hamilton and his team have enough time to progress and climb up the standings.
