After revealing the electric minivan, D9, at the Munich Motor Show in 2023, Denza now seems willing to enter the European market, despite the taxes imposed on electric vehicles produced in China.
Denza is a joint venture established between BYD and Mercedes-Benz, which aims to gain a global positioning in the near future. For the European markets, the brand wants to start by betting on the Z9 GT, a model that was revealed in April at the Beijing Motor Show and is presented with a length of 5.18 meters, a width of 1.99 meters, and a height of 1.50 meters. The wheelbase is 3.12 meters, ensuring ample space for passengers.
In terms of powertrain, the Denz Z9 GT is equipped with three electric motors, which produce a combined power of 965 hp and 1355 Nm of maximum torque. This configuration features a 308 hp motor at the front and two 322 hp motors at the rear, which are powered by LFP Blade batteries. The battery capacity has not been disclosed.
Meanwhile, the hybrid plug-in variant will feature the services of a 2.0-liter gasoline engine combined with three electric motors and a 38.51 kWh battery, allowing for a power of 858 hp and an electric mode range of up to 161 km.
The British magazine “Autocar” revealed that BYD’s product manager in Europe, Yi Sun, is in negotiations with potential dealers to introduce the electric brand Denza in European markets, with no specific date for the start of sales in the European market yet.
