A Fiat 500L used by Pope Francis during his visit to New York City in 2015 is now going up for auction.
According to the auction house RM Sotheby’s, the vehicle was part of the fleet used by the Pope during his visit to the US and was provided by Chrysler. After the visit, in March 2016, the Pope’s Fiat 500L took part in a St. Patrick’s Day parade and was then donated by the Archdiocese of New York for an auction
to support Catholic charities, education, and humanitarian aid services, raising €76,112, with the listing stating that it “is believed to be the first papal vehicle sold by the Archdiocese”.
The Pope’s 500L is practically new and has only 1244 km on the odometer. This special model features a metallic grey exterior with chrome and black details.
This model of the Fiat 500 is equipped with heated leather front seats, dual-zone automatic temperature control system, and a 6.5” Uconnect infotainment system. In terms of engine, this 500L is powered by a 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 160 hp and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels.
Although the Pope does not perform miracles, RM Sotheby’s expects that the auction of this model will raise between € 46,441 and € 92,883.
