With Marco Bezzecchi moving to Aprilia, the Pertamina Enduro VR46 team will need to recruit at least one new rider for the 2025 MotoGP season. Given Ducati’s competitiveness, there is no shortage of interested candidates, but one rider, in particular, stands out for the team – Franco Morbidelli.
The Italian is currently racing for Prima Pramac Racing, already riding a Ducati, and after a season start hindered by injury, he is finally delivering results. If he joins VR46, he will likely be riding the Desmosedici GP24 that he is already familiar with this year.
When asked by GPOne.com if it can be said that Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio will be the 2025 riders, VR46 team director Uccio Salucci responded:
– With Di Gia, we are already set, we are discussing hotels [laughs]. With Franco, we are still in early stages, but our idea is to have Morbidelli. However, nothing is finalized at the moment.
Although not officially announced, Di Giannantonio’s renewal is reportedly signed. The rider has confirmed to the official MotoGP website that his future is decided, but he has not disclosed his decision – despite also being sought after by Yamaha for a spot in Pramac.
